Hotel Polar Star

Welcome to Žabljak, the most beautiful mountain town on the Durmitor Pasture. The hotel was recently opened and it suites to the high Polar Star category; it is located in the village of Borje, 4 km from the centre of Žabljak on the way to Pljevlja.

The Tourist organization of Montenegro awarded the hotel with the prize for the best continental hotel in Montenegro in 2010.

Žabljak is the centre of the municipality and is located 1456 m above sea-level – it is one of the highest urban centres in the Balkans. It is a popular tourist destination for summer and winter tourism. The town is surrounded by two mountain peaks, Mount Savin and Bobotin kuk, the Black Lake is nearby, symbol of the Durmitor area.

One of the principal attractions of the area, the canyon of the Tara River, is located only 20 km away from the centre of Žabljak on the foothills of the Durmitor mountain range. Tara is commonly known as »Tear of Europe« and it has one of the deepest canyons on the world after the Colorado Canyon.
