Sljeme is the highest peak of the Medvednica mountain range (1,035 m a.s.l.), rising directly above the Croatian capital of Zagreb. The Sljeme ski resort features maintained ski slopes (Red, Green, Blue, and White slopes) and children's magic carpets for beginners. A modern cable car (Žičara Sljeme) provides fast and picturesque access from the city to the top of the mountain. In addition to being known for World Cup alpine ski races (Snow Queen Trophy), Sljeme is a popular excursion destination for hikers and cyclists in the warmer months and is renowned for its traditional mountain huts offering a rich selection of homemade Zagorje dishes. Due to its proximity and artificial snowmaking systems, it is an ideal training ground for taking first ski steps or for one-day or weekend snow trips.
