Lovran has a long a rich history of tourist services. Its name derives form evergreen laurel (Laurus nobilis) that grows everywhere in the town and its surroundings. It is today one of the best conserved towns in the whole Adriatic area with its paving stone streets, stone houses, narrow streets and stairs. Numerous guests are attracted during the whole year by its churches with Medieval paintings in fresco, writings in Galgolic alphabet (old Church Slavonic and old Croatian alphabet) and picturesque Mediterranean motives. Lovran has also beautiful beaches, unique mountainnering hinterland, very good restaurants and friendly inhabitants.
