The three star Hotel Oltra is only a 5 minute walk from a pebble beach in Ankaran and offers climatized rooms with free Wi-Fi. Because of its position the area around Ankaran has been populated since the Roman times. The Roman name for the area was Ultra (Oltra in Italian – oltre il mare, overseas). During the construction of the spa they stumbled upon a mosaic from the Roman age which is now housed in the Provincial museum in Koper.
